2026-01-27Bathed in the warmth of the winter sun and guided by love, Tianzhushan Geopark Museum was filled with an especially heartwarming atmosphere on the morning of January 16, 2026. To further extend the meaning of Tianzhushan’s “Great Love” brand and fulfill its social responsibility, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark invited children from the Qianshan Special Education School into this place where knowledge and nature come together, launching the seventh volunteer outreach activity for special education under the theme “Walking in Warmth, Painting the Starlight Together.” Thus began a heartwarming journey with science as the boat, intangible cultural heritage as the bridge, and companionship as the sail.

During the event, science popularization volunteers guided the children in groups through the Hall of Earth Mysteries, the Hall of Life Evolution, and the Hall of Anhui Culture. Through vivid explanations, hands-on interaction with exhibits, and question-and-answer sessions, the children learned about the geological evolution, natural resources, and local culture of Tianzhushan, which sparked their interest in and curiosity about natural science.

After the tour, the children came to the Tianzhushan Study Travel Base. Under the guidance of an intangible cultural heritage teacher, they used brushes to sketch lines and fill in colors, creating distinctive Peking Opera masks by hand. Through this hands-on experience, the children not only improved their hand-eye coordination, but also learned about the personalities and operatic culture represented by the colors of the masks, gaining a deeper appreciation of the rich charm of Peking Opera as a treasured part of Chinese culture.

In addition, Tianzhushan Geopark Museum presented each child with a science picture book, colored drawing pens, and a small Tianzhushan cultural and creative gift.

The event came to a gentle close amid the children’s laughter and artwork, but the warmth did not end there. Every gifted picture book, every colored pen, and every hand-painted mask carried care and hope, becoming small lights to accompany the children as they explore the world. As an important extension of Tianzhushan’s “Great Love” brand, this event was not only an experience combining science popularization and intangible cultural heritage, but also a bridge filled with emotion and belief. In the future, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark will continue to work hand in hand with all sectors of society to keep this warmth flowing, allow the seeds of science to take root in every heart, and let the starlight of culture shine across the skies of more children — because we believe that every journey together helps paint a brighter and more inclusive sky of stars.
